Board Meeting - 1/19/2021

 

 

1.       Call to order 

        7:05PM

5.       Committee status reports 

        A. Organization – Aaron Fischer 

               i. IRS has reviewed our application.  We did not include our Articles of Incorporation.  A copy was requested from the ND Secretary of State and faxed to the IRS reviewer.  Current belief is that this satisfies the requirements and we will be granted 501.c.3 status.  Aaron Fischer will follow up.

                

        B.  Facilities – group discussion

                i.  New neighbors in the facility.  Looks like in the freezer and the lunchroom.  The downstairs office area is empty.  Continuing to work with Career Academy on needs - focused on FRC/robotics needs.  A small group of us will meet with superintendent to finalize and hopefully approve.  Lab space and separate space we hope to be able to set up the game field.                  

               ii. Still need some clarity whether or not we will have a dedicated space and whether or not we'll need to fundraise for some level of expenses. Need to include network/computer needs - will need to work through the details. 

 

              iii. We should set a move out deadline - Aaron Fischer will reach out to non-FRC groups we know are using the facility.  Tentatively targeting April

 

        C. Fundraising – Jason Ryan

                i. No update on fundraising 

               ii. A soon next step would be to open a bank account.  Consider a larger bank with a local presence.  Bell, Gate City, Alerus. Jason Ryan will start some conversations. 

 

        D. PR - Hannah Reisdorf/Rory Held

               i. Suggestion to consider putting together a social media strategy 

 

 

6.       New Business 

        A.  FTC Event - request from Central Cass FTC to organize a local FTC scrimmage/event.  Proposal to approach NDSU to see if they would be or are already planning.  Tim Ryan will touch base with Scott Pryor and we'll go from there.

 

        B. Airsho - will be including a STEM expo this year.  We (Rory Held and Aaron Fischer) are invited to an upcoming planning meeting.  Rory will  attend to gauge their expectation and what the potential opportunity is.  Looking at it as an opportunity to get us out in the community and building some awareness.  Also maybe an opportunity to get teams engaged.
